She has been certified both as a specialist in civil trial advocacy and as a civil pretrial practice advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, based upon her trial experience and other criteria. She is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and sits on its State Committee. Membership in the American College of Trial Lawyers is by invitation only, can never exceed more than 1% of the entire lawyer population of the state, and is based upon recognition as one of the very best trial lawyers in the state by judges and opposing counsel. Debra is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an honorary society whose membership is limited to less than one-half percent of North American lawyers, judges, and scholars. She has been selected to “America’s Top 100 Attorneys,” based upon lifetime achievement recognition. She is listed in Best Lawyers in America. Debra has provided litigation services to numerous U.S. companies, both plaintiff and defendant, on a wide array of matters, including labor and employment issues, real estate disputes, and probate litigation. She has negotiated resolution of a variety of complex matters during her career, and has represented clients at all stages of the litigation process, including alternative dispute resolution, discovery, trial, and appeal. She has counseled clients in risk management, crisis management, and litigation avoidance techniques. She has also trained numerous young litigators on trial technique and strategy.
Debra holds an "AV" rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating for lawyers, based upon a poll of other lawyers practicing in the same community. The "AV" rating is defined as "very high to pre-eminent" in her field of practice. She is listed as an Indiana Super Lawyer by Indianapolis Monthly based upon a survey of over 14,000 attorneys in Indiana, and she is listed as one of the top 25 women lawyers in Indiana based upon the same survey.
