Debra Miller practices primarily in business litigation. She has been certified as a specialist in civil litigation by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, based upon her trial experience and other criteria. She was elected to the American Board of Trial Advocacy based upon some of the same criteria, and is President Elect of its Indiana Chapter. She has tried more than forty jury trials, including issues of breach of contract, vicarious liability, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, employee benefit plan losses, conversion, shareholder liability, insurance coverage, catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, and bad faith. She has represented clients in litigation pending in Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Texas, and before the Indiana Court of Appeals, the Indiana Supreme Court, and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago, as well as the Indiana Federal District and State trial courts. Debra has provided litigation services to numerous U.S. companies, as both plaintiff and defendant, on a wide array of matters, including labor and employment issues, real estate disputes, and probate litigation. She has negotiated resolution of a variety of complex matters during her career, and has represented clients at all stages of the litigation process, including alternative dispute resolution, discovery, trial, and appeal. She has counseled clients in risk management, crisis management, and litigation avoidance techniques. She has also trained numerous young litigators on trial technique and strategy. Debra holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating for lawyers, based upon a poll of other lawyers practicing in the same community. The AV rating is defined as very high to pre-eminent in her field of practice. She has been listed as an Indiana Super Lawyer by Indianapolis Monthly based upon a survey of over 14,000 attorneys in Indiana. Debra joined Ice Miller LLP in 1984, upon earning her juris doctorate, cum laude, from the Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis, where she was an associate editor of the Law Review. She was a partner in the Litigation and Labor and Employment Sections, Chair of the 60-lawyer Litigation Section, and EEO Compliance Officer for the firm. Debra left Ice Miller LLP to become a founding partner of Miller & Fisher, LLC, in 2006. Debra chaired the Project PEACE Subcommittee of the Civil Rights of Children Committee of the Indiana State Bar Association, which implemented peer dispute resolution in many Indiana schools, including the Indianapolis Public Schools. She was a member of the Indiana State Bar Association's Internet and Electronic Communications Committee. She is on the Board of Directors for the Children's Bureau, Inc.
